Marketo Minutes: Subscribing to Notifications

Michael Tucker

Do you know what’s happening behind the scenes in your Adobe Marketo Engage Instance? Are there sync errors occurring with your CRM? Do you know when your security certificates are expiring? What about updates with your social media ads or audiences? These are just some of the notifications that are routinely being recorded behind the scenes of your Marketo Instance and could be going unnoticed.

Some of these notifications are nothing more than updates that require no action from you or anyone else. Others, however, require updates from IT or changes to your CRM and can affect email sends or lead routing if not addressed in a timely manner. One benefit of Marketo is the ability to send these notifications directly to your email. Now, before you roll your eyes at yet more email alerts that you may not need, let’s explore how this can be a benefit.

Since Marketo and Marketing Automation typically holds a central seat in the entire MarTech stack, quickly finding and resolving errors from other applications is crucial to maintaining consistent operations across your business. Setting up notifications to alert key people can minimize otherwise chaotic situations for example:

  • Sending CRM sync errors directly to the correct person that can resolve them can minimize disruptions in leads being forward to your sales team.
  • Notifying your IT Department of SSL Certificate expiration dates so they can ensure your security settings are updated on time and suffer no disruption to your audience.

In this week’s Marketo Minutes episode, Michael Tucker will show you how you can set-up these notifications so each department, and each individual, can receive the alerts specific to them.
